Texas A&M- Corpus Christi
Student Success & Diversity Librarian
Corpus Christi, Texas
I have technically worked in libraries since I was 13. I worked in my school libraries at 13 and again at 17. When it was time to find a job while attending college, where did I turn? The library of course!! I was employed as a student assistant in the Technical Services department. After graduating, I spent a year working off and on as a children's educator at my local Art Museum...but I was destined to return to my library home. I was hired at a public library as their Children's Librarian and loved it!! I loved working with children and seeing their eyes light up as they became engrossed in a story. After a year, I returned to working in an academic library and was employed as the Government Documents Processor. Unable, to fight it any longer, I worked on and received my MLS through Texas Woman's University. I was then promoted to Student Success Librarian. I have worked at mu current library for 10 years and have actively been involved in the events and promotion for the library since the beginning. I currently aim to improve my social media, graphic design, and promotion skills. I additionally seek new opportunities to build on my instruction skills. On a personal note, I'm a huge comic book fan, I love horror movies, am fascinated by the psychology of serial killers (sounds weird, I know, but I'm normal, I swear), and spend my leisure times reading, playing video games, or hanging out with my family.

Update: I'm now the Student Success & Diversity Librarian and am in my 11th year working for my library! I am increasingly interested in improving my instruction skills and incorporating scaffolding and active learning elements. Additionally, I'd love to have conversations about the missing or often overlooked voices in scholarship literature and how we can not only bring those lost voices to the room where it happens, but also get them a seat at the table complete with their own microphone!
