Building Incremental Assessment Tools through Cross-Departmental Collaboration

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Librarians at Middlebury College gain face-to-face classroom time with students only when they are invited by faculty, and they ARE invited!  Every year, they meet nearly 90% of new students.  One of the secrets to librarians’ success is assessment data.  Library and Institutional Research staff have worked together to build a collection of tools that regularly assess selected facets of information literacy at the institutional level.  A history of collaboration between the Library and the Office of Assessment and Institutional Research has made this possible.

Participants will be able to:
  • Build on successful techniques for incremental information literacy assessment at the institutional level
  • Envision new uses of assessment data that will strengthen faculty outreach and enhance student instruction
  • Observe and adapt best practices for library partnerships with institutional research offices
