Nerding Outside Your Wheelhouse: Boldly Go Where No Library Has Gone Before

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

A great deal of collaboration and outreach initiatives that we innovate and execute lie within our wheelhouse as it's driven by personal knowledge and passion. The reality is that this notion creates barriers when presented with unfamiliar opportunities to engage our communities in lifelong learning and critical literacies within diverse populations and underrepresented groups. Arizona State University Library collaborated in an outreach event at Phoenix Fan Fusion, Arizona's biggest comic/pop culture convention. This session will highlight the importance of meaningful collaboration efforts in establishing new relationships and building a community both internally among directorates and externally outside of the library. From special collections/archives, makerspace, technical services to faculty... this collaborative event included them all!

Participants will:
  • Develop a toolkit to achieving collaboration and outreach outside of the library.
  • Be able to use functional strategies to organize participation internally and externally.
